Clip-In Hair Extensions and Ponytails Wash Guide
Keeping your Clip-In Hair Extensions and Ponytails clean will make your hair look, feel and smell fresh and soft! Washing leads to the longevity and versatility of your Mallia Hair Pieces and is encouraged every 7-10 wears, or whenever you notice your hair looking dull, dry and limp, or in the occurrence of product build-up.
Step 1: Start by detangling the strands of hair. Your hair needs to be tangled and knot-free to avoid unnecessary breakage and damage.
Step 2: In a basin, bath tub or container, rinse the hair strands in lukewarm water. Once the hair is wet, gently wash your hair extensions with a sulphate, paraben and silicone free shampoo (see our list of Mallia-Approved Hair Products here). Make sure to not scrunch or unnecessarily tangle up the hair while washing. Wash in a top to bottom motion, moving from the top of the extension down to the ends.
Step 3: Once shampoo has been evenly applied and spread through the hair strands, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and ensure no product is left behind to avoid product build-up.
Step 4: Once rinsed, deep condition the hair using a hydrating conditioner and leave on the hair strands for up to 5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Step 5: Once rinsed again, place the hair strands onto a towel and lightly pat dry. Allow the hair strands to air dry or by using the cool heat-function on your hair-dryer. Be sure to use a detangling or soft-bristle brush in conjunction with a detangling spray/leave in conditioner when brushing through the damp hair.
Step 1: Start by detangling and brushing out your wig. This will prevent unnecessary tangling and knotting during and after the washing process, as well as uplift any dirt, oil and product build-up.
Step 2: Gently rinse your wig under running lukewarm water and then submerge the entire rinsed wig in a basin, bathtub or container filled with lukewarm water. Once all the hair and the wig cap is wet, you can start shampooing.
Step 3: With a palm-full of shampoo, gently wash the wig hair with a sulphate, paraben and silicone free shampoo (see our list of Mallia-Approved Hair Products here). Stroke the hair from roots to ends, keeping the shampoo away from the scalp of the wig. It's important not to be heavy-handed when it comes to shampooing. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the hair, as this could damage the strands. Once fully cleaned with shampoo, thoroughly rinse the wig under running cool lukewarm water from the base down to the bottom of the hair.
Step 4: Once rinsed, deep condition the hair using a hydrating conditioner and leave on the hair strands for up to 5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Step 5: Once rinsed again, place the wig on a soft towel, gently and lightly blot it and then leave it on a wig stand or hanger to air dry. Avoid using a blow dryer and brushing the hair until it is completely dry.
